With earlier versions the emulator started almost instantly on my windows 98 machine. But with the last couple of builds, it takes over 30 seconds to actually start, during which time it seems to be reading or searching my hard drive.
Things do seem to be smoother though. I did find something strange when I ran Hunt the Wumpus. The beeps that occur when using the arrows to move the character around the screen seem to "stick". What I mean is the initial beep tone is the last tone of the little tune that plays when you start a game, which is a medium tone instead of the high tone that it should be. It would then continue with this tone until you tried to go straight where there was a "corner" and you got the low beep. It would then use this low beep until the game was over. I did not have this problem with previous versions.
Great job on compressing the AVIs. Recording AVIs worked OK but slowed down the emulator some and it wouldn't draw all frames like you said.
