That's due to the Allegro keyboard drivers.. I had the same problem with Ami99 when it was under Allegro.
Of course, it's supposed to be a GOOD thing that you can tell the keys apart. ;)
I still like MESS... it would be nice to see a Windows port. I took a look at it, and even started the port, but.. well, it's aptly named. ;)
