Thanks :) I didn't expect to stumble upon this page (again, apparently. I bookmarked it this time.)

I'm not sure if anyone who ANSWERS questions happens to read this or not, but I thought I'd hang out for a while and babble about Ami99.

Since I was recently (ahem) forwarded a collection of ROMs, I was able to do some rather extensive testing of cartridge software on Ami99. The result? Almost 100% of them ran. There were some problems, like no bitmap mode for Parsec, and no control in most games (as they scan the keyboard, and I don't have that in yet), but nearly everything worked.

There were a few crashes and graphics glitches, but I realized that my emulator leaves interrupts on regardless of the interrupt mask, so I'll fix that before I worry too much. But *all* the bank switching cartridges, except Extended BASIC, crash. This means Super XB and all the Atarisoft games, for example.

Now, real XB only bank-switches the upper 4k of the 8k cartridge space, and that's what I was emulating. Looking at the ROMs I have for Pole Position (for example), I saw the lower 4k was different, too, so I tried switching the entire 8k block. It's wrong, but with the current dumps, XB didn't mind. Nothing else worked right, though the games went a little farther. That's one of my current issues.

Desire to play these games again means that current priorities, besides the bank switching issue, are now sound and CRU keyboard scanning. ;)

Boo.
