I bought two of these from Germany. Just looks like a cool hotrodded, customized 4a...But, why wood cover the stainless? A hold by the cartridge port that looks like a speaker grille, but appears no speaker underneath (heat release)? Any input would be appreciated...

Someone just replaced the black keyboard with a keyboard from the beige version.
As for the wood grain, I haven't a clue. Always loved the brushed aluminum look...
The speaker grille is most likely for heat dissipation - the power supply is right under there, and generates a fair amount of heat - especially the older one that came with the black&silver TIs. A later model runs much cooler, and only has two pins on the input instead of the usual four.
But what is that protruding from the I/O port on the right side of the computer? Can you get a better picture of that?

Is there a switch on that little box above the I/O port? It might just be a load interrupt switch. As for the rest, it looks like someone just wanted to make their machine look snazzy and to let the heat out. . .

Was this the same seller with the mutant Mini Memory? The little lump on the side may be a place to connect that cartridge expander he is trying to sell at the moment. . .which would make it a Centronics connector there too--and it would leave the cartridge port free for normal use when the box wasn't connected to it.
